Flex charging can help reduce charging costs, increase renewable energy usage, reduce pressure on the electricity grid and allow customers to earn smart charging rewards.
A Smart tariff is specifically designed for energy-provider-controlled EV charging, where your energy supplier directly manages and controls when your vehicle charges. Examples include Intelligent Octopus Go, EON Next Smart and OVO Charge Anytime.
The waEV-charge EV chargers are suitable for both single domestic dwellings, apartment blocks and commercial environments. As standard, our EV1i charger is setup for single domestic properties however our UK based team will custom build your charger based on your requirement.
No. Tariffs such as Intelligent Octopus Go, EON Next Smart and OVO Charge Anytime cannot currently be used in conjunction with waEV-smart smart scheduling or rewards. These tariffs require the energy provider to have direct control over charging sessions, which conflicts with waEV-smart scheduling functionality.
If smart scheduling is disabled, you can simply just plug the cable into the vehicle, and it will start charging until it’s either unplugged or fully charged. Additionally, you can still have smart scheduling enabled so you get all the added benefits of security functionality, but you just utilise the ‘boost charge’ function which will then charge the car immediately if plugged in.
We only share the information necessary to provide waEV-smart services and calculate rewards, including details such as your email address, property address, MPAN, smart meter data and charger/device information, with our authorised flexibility service operators and trusted partners.
