What is waEV-smart?

waEV-smart is a free app that turns your home EV charging into a small monthly income. Instead of you having to remember to set timers and chase cheap rates, waEV-smart does it for you - automatically charging your car when electricity is cheapest and the grid needs the help most. You don't change your routine or your supplier. You just plug in when you get home and wake up to a charged car. We pay you for the bits in between.

Tariff Integration

Our app works with a wide range of tariffs, including fixed and variable options from major providers like British Gas and Scottish Power. Please note, it does not integrate with intelligent controlled tariffs like those offering real-time pricing adjustments.

How it works

1
Plug in when you get home

That's the whole effort. No schedules, no apps to tap, no thinking.

2
waEV-smart manages your overnight charge

We optimise charging in the background - pulling power when it's cheapest for you and most useful for the grid. Your car is ready when you need it.

3
Earn cash, straight into the app

Your earnings build up in your waEV-smart account. Withdraw to your bank, or use them however you like.

Commonly asked questions

How do I contact waEV-charge support?

Support options are available directly within the waEV-smart app menu, including FAQs, Live Chat and additional support resources.

What if I need more charge than my off-peak schedule allows?

If you need additional charging outside of your normal off-peak hours, you can either use Boost mode or temporarily extend your tariff schedule settings within the app.

Where can I find support in the app?

Tap the menu icon in the top-right corner of the app to access FAQs, support, live chat and additional information.

Can waEV-smart currently support Smart tariffs?

At present, waEV-smart does not support Smart tariffs where charging must be fully controlled by the energy provider. If Smart is selected during setup, the app will display an error message explaining that this tariff type is currently unsupported due to a control conflict between the supplier-managed charging system and waEV-smart scheduling.

What should I select if I’m on a Smart tariff?

If your energy provider requires full control of charging sessions, we currently recommend using the provider’s native smart charging functionality rather than waEV-smart scheduling.
