¹ £20 welcome credit, equivalent to approximately 1,000 miles, calculated at an average EV efficiency of 0.250 kWh/mile and a reference off-peak rate of £0.08/kWh. Credit applied to your waEV-smart account after 30 days of active smart charging.
² Up to £15/month available to participants with a half-hourly smart meter (SMETS1 enrolled in DCC, or SMETS2). Equivalent to approximately 750 miles per month at £0.08/kWh and 0.250 kWh/mile. Earnings vary with charging frequency and grid demand.
waEV-smart is a free app that turns your home EV charging into a small monthly income. Instead of you having to remember to set timers and chase cheap rates, waEV-smart does it for you - automatically charging your car when electricity is cheapest and the grid needs the help most. You don't change your routine or your supplier. You just plug in when you get home and wake up to a charged car. We pay you for the bits in between.
Our app works with a wide range of tariffs, including fixed and variable options from major providers like British Gas and Scottish Power. Please note, it does not integrate with intelligent controlled tariffs like those offering real-time pricing adjustments.

Axle Energy is waEV-charge’s authorised flexibility services partner, helping power the smart charging and rewards functionality behind waEV-smart. Axle Energy helps balance electricity demand across the grid by intelligently shifting EV charging to more optimal times.
waEV-smart rewards are based on the number of eligible smart charging sessions completed each month. Customers completing 3 charge sessions or more will receive £5, 15 charge sessions or more will receive £10, and 30 charge sessions or more will receive £15. Customers must also have a compatible SMETS2 smart meter installed and be on an eligible dual rate tariff to qualify for rewards.
Open the waEV-smart app, select Register, enter your email address, request a verification code, create a password and select Register & Sign In.
If you need additional charging outside of your normal off-peak hours, you can either use Boost mode or temporarily extend your tariff schedule settings within the app.
Open the waEV-charge Installer App, select Owner Settings, choose your charger, enter the Access Code, select Firmware Update and enter firmware version 49.59. Wait approximately 5 minutes after confirmation before proceeding.
